Cumbrian cult, experimental post-rock 5 piece Seven Seals announce the first single from their forthcoming ‘Minotaur EP’.

‘Hounds’ sees the Cumbrian 5 piece herald a new chapter with a charging post-rock offering ready for summer stages. Coinciding with the announcement of new band member’s Michael Denny & Nick Latham completing a new live show and renewed enthusiasm.

‘Hounds’ will be the first single taken from their forthcoming ‘Minotaur EP’, the first new music from the band since their debut album, the long lost and critically acclaimed ‘Owl Cage’.

Seals vocalist Simon describes the track as “A stream of consciousness art pop…We - either pretentiously or with tongues firmly in our cheeks - described the vocal style as post-modern Dadaist rap… Hounds features an improvised stream of consciousness lyric that seemed like it was beamed to us (lock stock & barrel) via Madame Blavatsky’s Akashic records during a late night jam session. Hounds feels like a spell, an alchemical incantation maybe, but it’s meaningless magic.”

New recruit Michael Denny is a highly versatile composer, producer, sound designer and multi instrumentalist. Specializing in music for meditation, mindfulness and wellbeing Michael’s compositions have featured on apps including: Calm, Maya and Brainwaves alongside the BBC Sounds Playlist: The Sleeping Forecast.

Nick Latham also joins the revitalized line-up, after winning the illustrious Sandberg Guitars contest on YouTube in 2012, he has gone from strength to strength playing with many bands and artists; most notably LOWES, in addition to releasing bass-fronted electronic music under the moniker Nicko.
‘Hounds’ kick starts a new dawn for the band with a new line-up and fresh impetus as they work on completing their second album, following their 2022 debut LP ‘Owl Cage’. A record that finely balances fiery transmissions with thrift shop controlled chaos.

Lost in the way that many a great record has slipped through the machinations of the music industry’s merciless churn, the Seven Seals debut truly served its time in exile, and was finally released 16 years after its initial conception.
